Get in on the latest rustic trend by getting creative with Pantone's colour inspiration of 2018 and a venue that combines luxury with outdoor rustic charm. With the revelation of Pantone Colour of 2018 as ultraviolet and the trend for rustic themed weddings showing no sign of abating, the demand on brides to deliver inspirational styled weddings remain. Iconic Bride and Hannah Dora makeup artist recently teamed up with a selection of Nottingham's finest industry suppliers to help you with ideas on how to incorporate this enigmatic colour into a dreamy look for your special day.
The Venue: The Old Vicarage Boutique at Southwell, Nottinghamshire was the picturesque location chosen for our photoshoot. It may well be known for its glamorous boutique style interior but with its character buildings and set in over 1 acres of stunning grounds, this intimate and exclusive wedding venue lends itself beautifully to venue dressing which releases its inner rustic charm.
Thanks to the creative talents of local florist Sassie Bees, and venue styling from Chelsea Edgington MD at the Old Vicarage, this highly sought venue was transformed with beautiful Vanda orchids, hydrangeas, delphiniums, viburnum and eucalyptus to bring a glamorously rustic pop of colour.
Bridal Styling: When it comes to choosing your bridal dress, off the shoulder styles remain the shape of choice for 2018, especially when featuring beautiful long sleeves which are on the rise this season. Gain extra style points for the details incorporating bows or pearl embellishments, both set to be a big trend for 2018. For a more bohemian style then floaty dresses are a perfect choice to achieve that relaxed look. A style that more fashion - conscious brides can still get in on by embracing illusion style options rather than the traditional opaque.
Makeup that allows the camera to capture the best, natural you. Creating a natural, radiant and flawless look is key to any bridal makeup. Priming the skin is important for staying power, it helps create a smooth canvas on which the makeup will sit. Keep skin looking fresh and glowing but shine to a minimum in unwanted areas with use of a setting powder. Get creative, a lilac lip with a rich pink gloss brings beautiful lips to life with a colour pop or keep lips neutral with a soft rose or nude colour. For those that love a smokey eye accentuate with hazy shades of lilac and dark plums. A touch of powder eyeshadow under the bottom lashes completes a relaxed undone look.
Soft and natural or a hairstyle to wow: With more and more brides embracing texture and curls, a more natural look is fast becoming this years big hair trend.
Keep things classy and free flowing with a bouncy blow dry. Bridal hair by Sharni Knighton says the key to this look is to minimise on product use but give the style longevity by using a strong blow drying aid. Try to keep away from anything that will clog the hair and allow wisps to fall freely, framing the face for an additional romantic feel.
Alternatively, a signature look this season is to get creative with an impressive bohemian textured updo. Left natural or interwoven with bold or delicate flowers such as the popular gypsophilia, it is both stylish and practical for those hot summer weddings.
Complete your bridal party by dressing your best girls in complimentary tones of ultraviolet and by choosing a changeable dress that lets your best girls individuality shine. With dramatically increased numbers of bridesmaids, a trend set by adopting American style weddings, the task of finding a dress that everyone will like is an issue brides are all too familiar with. The popular wrap dresses allow your best girls choice over style and to showcase their individuality whilst you remain firmly in control over your colour scheme and the overlook of your wedding. Consider pairing different hues of ultraviolet for a much more interesting colour palette that will get people talking.
Cake-spiration. Let your imagination run free embracing the spirituality symbolic of this colour, by bringing your wedding cake to life combining soul awaking purple hues and ruffled textures of layered icing. Create contrast by having clean lines of iced upper tiers in lightening shades of grey. Complete the look with natural floral arrangement of foliage, roses and peonies for a wedding cake sure to inspire.
Florally Yours. Floral arrangements of flowers that are deliberately imperfectly is a key feature of rustic weddings, in fact the messier the better. The use of foliage is always guaranteed to give you that rustic vibe and with 2018 pantone colour of the year being showcased in a range of different plants, of varying sizes and with complimentary hues this is a bouquet that simply oozes rustic lux.
Finally special table touches are a great way to tie in the whole look of your wedding. Just a hint of colour on your tables from single placed rose or flower at each place setting keeps the rustic vibe alive, whilst adding in beautiful clear charger plates with metallic beading and crisp white linen napkins creates a rustic glam style that oozes elegance.
